Is Your Family Unprepared for a Disaster?  They are Happening Every Day!

There are so many disaster events (also called hazards) facing us today (and nearly everyday) that the experts have decided to classify them into multiple disaster groups. The two primary hazard groups are called natural disasters and human-caused or man-made disasters. Disaster recovery and business continuity professionals even go further and break these hazards down into four or five hazard sub-categories.

So Many Disasters to Prepare for!

Check out this list of over 50 potential disasters on our Common Disasters page.

This list of hazards or dangers that could impact you or your family is daunting and they are happening more frequently than ever. How do you prepare for over 50 things that could go wrong? Well that's just not practical (unless you want to quit your full time job and focus strictly on preparedness) but who has the time to do that?

Disasters are happening every single day!  Check out FEMA's 'Current Disasters' website page!

What to Do?

I've always believed in the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid), so to minimize the amount of time and monies you need to invest in disaster preparedness, this website will focus on the three most common disasters (power outages, hurricanes and tornadoes) and the two most common preparedness strategies (shelter in place and evacuation). Much of what you will learn by implementing these preparedness strategies can be applied to many of the other 50 plus potential hazards or hazard risks to your family.
